First Post

First post. It is a little daunting to write the first post. To do the first of anything, really. You never get a second chance for a first impression, after all. So much pressure setting precedent. That is just a worry I have, it stops me from starting a lot of things. But not this post!

Because you are not here, I'll explain a few things. I'm writing this, not at a keyboard, but with a pen, ink, and paper. I've been doing this off and on for over a year - morning writing. There is something about forming the shapes of letters and words that exercises a different part of my brain. At least, this is what I tell myself. Many mornings I'll sit down with coffee and breakfast cereal, and fill a page of this notebook.

Initially, I had two books. One for random free writes, and one for structured essays. They have merged together slightly, my essays becoming slightly less structured, and my free writes almost dropping off entirely. But what will end up on this site I am not sure. I'm going to keep the guidelines pretty loose. Otherwise, I'll want to follow all the rules for any post, forever.

I am excited. I've wanted to put together a blog to share some of my thoughts for a long time. What can be more satisfying than thinking of something you want and making it happen?
